THE INNOVATION

ENIEA is the 1st private Specialized Interdisciplinary Outpatient Clinic for Adults with Autism and ADHD in Greece, providing a holistic approach, from 1st Diagnosis in Adult Life to Intervention to the Whole Family from a Multidisciplinary team, under the supervision and with the direction of a specialized Psychiatrist. By combining Golden Standard methods with accredited National and International Guidelines the founder Dr Stella Stat, on top of her 24 years of clinical experience, has created a Diagnostic Algorithm, consisting of 2 adjusted Semi-Structured interviews, Medical and Developmental History and accredited Psychometric Tests, all taken into consideration before the final Evaluation. This is important, in order to provide a valid evidence - based diagnosis, as  Autism and ADHD, especially when first assessed in Adult Life, can often be challenging diagnoses to identify, even for experienced clinicians, becausee of alteration of the typical symptoms with age and of other comorbid psychiatric disorders, that can be more obvious and tend to obscure and alter the underlying symptoms. Based on each person's unique profile the Diagnostic Algorithm can therefore differ.

After the diagnosis an individualized Personal Intervention Plan is created with an individualized combination of Medical, Pshychological, Supportive and other Interventions. The commitment and motivation of the Individual is an integral part of therapy. ENIEA's experts work together to reach the concrete Therapeutical Targets under ongoing Evaluation. ENIEA's Health Services to Neurodiverse People and their Families are designted to reach the highest quality from 1st Diagnosis to ongoing Lifelong Intervention.

The content and frequency of the sessions are tailored to the particular needs of each person, structured to give meaning to them, and can vary from 1 time per week to 1 time per fortnight or per month. Based on the unique set of strenghts and skills, we work with the ultimate goal of helping each one overcome the difficulties in achieving their goals and living a self-fulfilling and meaningful  life.

Group Therapy

Small groups of up to 6 Neurodivergent people and groups of Carers (parents, partners, children, siblings or friends), is a possibility, as part of our integrated intervention. Social skills training and socialization groups are also a possibility, according to the Personalized Intervention Plan and the Individual wishes.

In addition, there is a possibility for psychoeducation in small groups of up to 5 people, which also functions as a first social event after the diagnosis, which helps socialization, destigmatization and acceptance of the diagnosis, enhancing the feeling of reciprocity and inclusion.

Parent Councelling and
Family Therapy

At ENIEA we see the people of the close environment as the most important supports of our beneficiaries and we work with them step by step to resolve conflicts, find solutions to difficult situations in symbiosis, and achieve the fastest possible improvement of everyone's quality of life. We respectfully support the parents, friends, partners and significant others of our beneficiaries, as we understand and are sensitive to their anxieties. Through Counseling services for the significant others of our beneficiaries we aim to achieve the required environmental adjustments. Our approach is based on mapping the challenges of their common everyday life and analyzing and identifying the meaning of each behavior and creating the appropriate intervention for each person in order to resolve the problem from it's route.

The ENIEA method

Diagnosis

The specialized psychiatrist Dr. Stella Stat and her experienced team undertake the initial assessment of people with suspected Autism and/or ADHD at all ages, from young adulthood to the elderly. For the diagnosis, internationally recognized practices are applied which include a personalized algorithm by an avarage of 5 sessions.

1st session: Request Investigation, Social and Hereditary History, Clinical Assessment, psychometric tests with a personalized examination algorithm.

2nd session: Psychiatric History.

3rd session: Developmental History, preferably with parent, teacher  or other reference person.

4th session: Specialized Psychometric Tests.

5th session: Result and drafting of a personalized intervention plan.

It is noted that in complex cases with co-morbidity or in other case of differential diagnositic complexity, more sessions may be required and additional tests may be administered.

3

Network Counseling - Crisis Management

As part of the holistic intervention, Network Counseling plays a central role in ENIEA. People with neurodiversity can benefit from adjustments on their immediate environment, such as modifications at University or School program, at Work, expectations from friends, romantic relationships and the broader social interactions in the community. Our network counseling intervention creates a safe environment for the network to contact us and we provide guidance and advise to gain a better picture of the challenges the Neurodivergents are met with. By contacting and working together with the whole beneficiary's network, we succeed in a common understanding of the unique challenges and prevent or stop a crisis timely.

2

Psychoeducation - Support & Psychotherapy

After the Diagnosis is reached, Psychoeducational sessions are provided, individualy and in small interactive groups. The psychoeducation is held both for the Neurodivergent Individuals and for their significant others. The more family members the intervention includes, the greater the benefit. At the same time, it is possible for carers to get in touch with people in a similar situation, socialize, share and get inspired. Properly supporting and educating carers of Neurodivergents, is an evidence-based method that improves the quality of life for everyone. Afterwards, ongoing Supportive Psychotherapy is provided, for both the Neurodivergent individual and the Carer. By a synthetic approach, we set together measurable and realistic goals, that give meaning to you. We meet each individual at its own level, combining a rich variety of methods, such as visualization, role play, art therapy, social stories, trauma therapy, focusing and other methods that can be relevant.

4

Medication
 & Monitoring

When indicated, medication is recommended, and renewal of perscription under continued monitoring.

Prescribing is possible for residents of Greece with an active AMKA (social security number), and in-person visit is required to obtain a physical examination. If required, referrals for EKG, biochemical and imaging tests can be prescribed. In the initial phase of medication, more frequent visits (weekly) are required until the Minimum therapeutically Effective Dose (MED) is reached. Follow-up can then become monthly, mapping any side effects and monitoring effectiveness.

Development of Social Skills

For people with a good understanding of speech and enough verbal communication, small social skills groups are organized, where we work on friendship, relationships, boundaries, sexuality, anger management, physical hygiene, career guidance to help people create a comprehensible social map coexistence and to develop their potential by living a full life with the greatest possible self-fulfillment and inclusion.

7

Supervision, Education & Training of Professionals

At ENIEA, we understand the need for more health professionals, doctors, nurses, teachers, civil servants, police officers, sports coaches and anyone who comes in contact with public, to be informed about the special needs of people with Neurodiversity. We undertake the training of specialized professionals with Workshops specially designed for the population and the needs of each specialist group. We also undertake specialist supervision in organizations or individually to fellow psychologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists who work with patients wiht a neurodevelopmental disorder.

For Doctors and Health Professionals

Autism and ADHD are commonly seen in health professionals such as doctors and psychologists. However, approaching a colleague for a diagnosis can be much more difficult than the general population, as it is often accompanied by guilt, taboo and fears of stigmatization, including professional rejection. With high collegial ethics, we encourage colleagues who suspect they may have evidence of a Neurodevelopmental Disorder to come to us so they can enjoy the same Health Services as the general population. We care for providing equal opportunities to colleagues for diagnosis and support, so that they in turn provide the best health services not only to others, but also to themselves .

8

Online Consultation - Telepsychiatry

Following the advances of technology and the opportunities that this provides, and in our effort to provide equal health services to people accross the glove or from remote areas, both diagnostic and therapeutic sessions are provided in a hybrid setting. This possibility is considered individually and is provided when it is deemed appropriate, often combined with at least one in-person session.
